About Me

I have been researching genealogy since I did a report on my great-grandmother Mary Duran for a seventh grade social studies class (wish I still had the report.)  I have always loved history and I majored in history in college (University of Southern Maine, 2001.)    I wanted to do genealogy as a career in my early 20s but did not have the skills to start a business.

20 years later, the interest still remains though due to life there are times I put it down for years at a time.  After a decade of less than exciting jobs, I am thinking about genealogy as a career again.  I plan to sharpen up my skills, go to some genealogy events and get a second degree in business.

Through my own genealogy, I have learned a lot about the Irish in Boston, Aran Islands immigrants to Woburn, MA and Acadian Genealogy.  My boyfriends genealogy has opened new opportunities to learn (not to mention fascinating stories), such as the Polish in Buffalo, NY, Irish in New Jersey, Alsatian German in the Hudson Valley, NY.  He also had a grandfather from Wyoming so there is 300 years of United States Migration including Scotch Irish in Appalachia and Pennsylvania, Puritan New England, German Quakers in Pennsylvania and a little Swiss.

Please join me on my journey!
